Kerala Backwaters Experience
Drift through emerald waterways on a traditional kettuvallam houseboat — lush paddy fields, coconut groves, village life, and the serene magic of God's Own Country, all in one unforgettable 3-day journey.
Overview
God's Own Country Awaits
Kerala's backwaters are among the most mesmerising landscapes on earth - a vast network of lagoons, lakes, rivers, and canals that stretch across the southern coast like a mirror to the sky. Our curated 3-day Kerala Backwaters Experience takes you aboard a traditional rice-boat houseboat, through the canal villages of Alleppey, the bird-rich wetlands of Kumarakom, and the peaceful rhythms of Kuttanad - the rice bowl of Kerala. Designed for international travellers, every detail is managed so you can simply drift, breathe, and experience.
Highlights
What You Will See
Houseboat (Kettuvallam) Cruise
Overnight on a traditional hand-crafted rice boat — your floating hotel gliding silently through palm-fringed canals at sunset.
Alleppey (Alappuzha)
The Venice of the East — a labyrinth of canals, old Dutch-era bungalows, and the famous snake boat racing waters.
Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary
A magical wetland teeming with migratory birds — egrets, herons, kingfishers, and rare species at the edge of Vembanad Lake.
Kuttanad Rice Fields
One of the world's only below-sea-level farming regions — emerald paddy fields stretching to the horizon, worked by hand as they have been for centuries.
Village Canoe Tour
Glide through narrow village canals in a small wooden canoe — past coconut weavers, toddy tappers, and fishermen casting nets at dawn.
Vembanad Lake Sunset
India's longest lake — watch the sky turn amber and crimson as your houseboat anchors for the night on open, still waters.
Itinerary
After arrival, a guided walk through Alleppey's old harbour and market is followed by a village canoe ride before boarding your private houseboat for a sunset cruise on Vembanad Lake and a traditional Kerala dinner on deck.
The second day brings an early morning cruise through Kuttanad rice fields, a nature walk in Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, and an afternoon in a local village - ending with an evening Kathakali performance under open skies.
The final morning includes a visit to a Kerala spice garden and a coir weaving workshop, before a farewell sadya lunch on a banana leaf and a comfortable transfer to Kochi airport or railway station.

Travel Tips
Good to Know Before You Go
November to February is perfect — cool, clear, and calm. Monsoon (June–Sept) is dramatic but some canals flood. Avoid peak summer heat of April–May.
Indian Rupee (INR). ATMs available in Alleppey town. Carry cash for village markets, tips, and local shops along the waterways.
Light cotton clothing, sunscreen, insect repellent, and a light rain jacket. Sun hats are essential — the open lake can be very bright and hot.
We provide AC vehicle transfers on land. On the water, your private houseboat and canoes are your transport — slow, peaceful, and perfect.
